Tammy Patrick joined the Democracy Fund as a Senior Advisor in May of 2017. In this new role, she will help lead the effort to foster a voter-centric elections system and work to provide election officials across the country the tools and knowledge they need to best serve their voters.
Formerly with the Bipartisan Policy Center, she focused on furthering the recommendations of the Presidential Commission on Election Administration (PCEA) to which she was appointed as a Commissioner by President Barack Obama in 2013.
Former Federal Compliance Officer for Maricopa County Elections Department for 11 years, Ms. Patrick was tasked with serving almost 2 million voters in the greater Phoenix Valley. She collaborates with community and political organizations to create a productive working relationship with the goal of voter participation.
Ms. Patrick has a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Purdue University and has attained accreditation as a Certified Election Voter Registration Administrator from the Election Center and Auburn University. Publications include “Administrative Burden: Perspective of a Western County” in the Public Administration Review journal of the American Society of Public Administrators (Volume 72, Number 5) and “U.S. Elections Face a Crossroads on Rights And Technology” Forbes online, 11/10/2013. She teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota and currently serves on the Steering Committee for National Voter Registration Day, the Board of Directors for the Center for Technology and Civic Life, the Advisory Board for Pew's Election Performance Index, MIT Election Data Science Lab, Advisory Committee for the Center for Civic Design, & as a member of the Election Center's committees on Postal issues, Legislation, and Security. She also represents them to the U.S. Postal Sevice's Mailers Technical Advisory Committee.
In her free time she enjoys gardening, writing & performing music, and released her 5th album in 2016.
