Stephen Peel

Prior to founding Novalpina, from 1997 to 2014, Stephen was a partner at TPG, one of the largest global private investment firms. As an early partner of the firm, Stephen was part of the senior leadership team that grew TPG from some $3 billion to over $60 billion of assets under management. Stephen founded TPG’s European office in 1997, co-headed Europe from 1997 to 2007 and was a member of global Management and Investment Review Committees. In 2008 Stephen moved to Hong Kong to lead the firm’s overall activities across Asia. During his investment career at TPG, he invested, managed, grew and turned around businesses in over 15 different countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Norway, Finland, the Baltics, China, India, Turkey, and Russia. Prior to TPG, Stephen was at Goldman Sachs from 1989 to 1997 where, as a member of the Principal Investment Area, he was an early pioneer of the cross border European buyout industry.

Stephen received an M.A. from Cambridge University, holds a Master of Advanced Studies degree from the Jackson Institute of Global Affairs at Yale University and was a visiting fellow at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University.
